Every photo is unique, even if it is the millionth photo made of Golden Gate bridge or Eiffel Tower. All photo's are the intellectual property of the photograph or company. But how can you actually prove you took the photo?

A high quality digital file does not prove it is your intellectual property - even if you do claim the copyright.

By registering your work before publication - especially on the Internet - you easily and quickly prove it is your intellectual property.

What to do:

• Register your photo as soon as you can after taking it.
• If you are using a Mac you register your work (max 20mb) via the File-Reg browser.
• If your photo is more then 20mb make a low resolution jpeg file and register this. This will have no effect on your copyright claim.
• Should anyone copy your work contact File-Reg immediately.
